ABOUT METrina S. Hearn, Esq.
I was born in Miami, Florida, but grew up in Norwich, Vermont (near Dartmouth College). As the oldest of four children, all very close in age, every day was a fight! To exacerbate the situation, my father—a trial lawyer, would often educate us on the art of persuasion and passionate argument. Lessons that I have carried with me and improved upon throughout my career. At Hearn Law, we are ready to fight for you!
Experience
I am an experienced trial lawyer in both state and federal court representing clients in a broad range of civil, real estate, health care, business, and commercial litigation matters including negligence, fraud, contractual disputes, brokerage disputes, disclosure disputes, insurance disputes, employment disputes, criminal matters, and personal injury matters including auto accidents, wrongful death, premises liability incidents, and defective products.
Additionally, I am a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator.

ExperienceLitigation and Dispute Resolution
I have an active litigation and dispute resolution practice. I have advocated in numerous criminal and civil trials, and handled countless mediations and arbitrations regarding personal injury and other civil claims. I have handled every stage of litigation from pre-suit negotiations, discovery, mediation, motion practice, arbitration, trial, and appeal. This vast knowledge and experience affords me with the opportunity to counsel clients in drafting and reviewing various contracts, releases, agreements, and other legal documents.
Prior to joining Hearn Law, I was a partner at the Bolin Law Group, where I practiced for twelve years and oversaw the premises liability and personal injury wing of the firm.
After interning at the Federal Public Defender’s office in both Chicago and Tampa, I began my career at the Public Defender’s Office in the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Florida. During that time, I litigated hundreds of cases ranging from misdemeanor driving offenses to felony violent offenses and advocated in over fifteen jury trials. Based on my trial experience, I accepted a position as a trial lawyer in the areas of premises liability and medical malpractice.
In addition to practicing law, I have served as a Trial Advocacy Skills Instructor at Stetson University College of Law. Along with my husband and law partner, Colby Hearn, I coached Stetson’s nationally recognized Trial Team to a first-place finish in the Florida Justice Association’s Mock Trial Competition.
